Yoruba Youth Groups Formed New Alliance (AYYCW), Unveil Executives

After decades of efforts in getting Yoruba Youths unified and coordinated under one umbrella, several stakeholders meeting were held for more than a year and by January, 2020, the Yoruba Youth Movement finally got it right at an assembly that took place in Ibadan with the emergence of Alliance of Yoruba Youths Council Worldwide (AYYCW). Among Yoruba Youth Movement in active participation of the Alliance that form ‘AYYCW’ according to a statement issued and signed by the body’ Convener Secretary Ogbeni Kolawole James are: Yoruba Youths Frontiers, Yoruba Youths Alliance, Yoruba Progressive Youths, and Yoruba Youth Remodel among others, with their leadership from Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti and Kwara fully represented in good numbers. The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Alliance of Yoruba Youths Council Worldwide (AYYCW) has commended the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria in curtailing the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus while as well condemning the sharing method of government’s palliative packages. According to a release made available to newsmen by the President, Dr. Akande Kazeem Babatunde and  Secretary of the Council, Comrade Adegunju Tayo, urged the government to ensure provision of more Test Kits and Personal Protective Equipments especially to people of the South/West. “The Federal Government  has started disbursing the N20,000 Conditional Cash Transfer to poor households across the country. POC OYO ADVISES OYSG, ALGON, SUES FOR PEACE, SETTLEMENT

IMO APC IMPOUNDS MANDATE AS S'COURT SACKS PDP'S IHEDIOHA, DECLARES APC'S UZODINMA

The Supreme Court on Tuesday voided the election of Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State. A seven-man panel of the apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, unanimously declared Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship election and the validly elected governor of the state. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who read the lead judgment, ordered that the certificate of return issued to Ihedioha be immediately withdrawn. She directed that a fresh certificate of return should be issued to Uzodinma. She also directed that Uzodinma must be immediately sworn in as the Governor of Imo State.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has explained why his administration did not sack the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government chairmen elected during his predecessor, Ayo Fayose’s tenure. He said it was because of his administration’s strict adherence to the rule of law. The governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the 2019 election in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, on Wednesday accused Governor Seyi Makinde of abandoning his party after it helped him to win the election.
